axle swap
 
Hey guys if i want to change my axle in the front of my 98 chevy blazer what would i have to replace do i have to replace my diff. can you guys help me out and tell me what i have to replace because i really want to upgrade my axle.

left or right side? Or do you want a solid live axle?

i'm sorry what do you mean left or right , i want to upgrade the whole thing so i can put a traction device up front to replace the open diff.

oh ok, , you said axle, left and right output shaft came to mind.


I wouldn't go anything smaller than a Dana44, you'll need different rims if you pirate a Dana 44 from a Dodge. I think the wheel lug pattern is 5 on 5 or 5 on 4.75. Might as well get a Dana fro the rear too! Or a beefy Dana 60.

If your swapping to a solid axle your also going to need to fabricate crossmembers or a place to mount your springs/shocks/ whatever suspension you are going with.
