bad vibration @ 50+ mph

I've got some serious vibration when I get up to 50+ mph. So bad to the point where my rear-view mirror and entire dashboard are shaking like crazy. And when I let off the gas, sometimes it gets worse. I have replaced the front bottom ball joints on both sides and wheel bearing hub on front passenger side. I'm lost!!!! Is there anybody out there who has any idea what this problem could be. Please help. Thank you.

One thing you could do yourself is rotate the tires. If the vibration started in the front and after rotating, it followed the tires, then you have a tire balance issue.

Other than that, it could be half shafts, u-joints in the front/rear driveshaft, bad wheel bearing. Even though you just replaced it, it could be defective...

Good luck and keep us posted on your findings.

I know it sounds too simple, but wheel balance is where to start. I just bought one with the same issue. I took the blazer to Big O and had them check out the tires. Balance was off a tiny bit in front, but one of the rear tires HAD A NAIL and was filled with FIX-a-FLAT. They cleaned it out, patched the tire, and $50 something later, no more shake at 55. However, I still have some at 70. Now I'm thinking alignment?

Any mud on inside of the rim(s) will throw off the balance.

Dont Forget to shake it down and check the Tire Rods also the tires them selfs could have broken belts in them, but way to check that is spin them on a balancer and look for a side to side movement in the tread

I have the same problem and checked my steering and suspension on the front end. I found a lot of problems. The center link and tie rod ends were loose and the nuts were jammed so I couldnt tighten them. the sway bar links were completely gone. The idler arm and pitman arm also need replacement. my lower ball joints were also shot. The tire wear was the first sign of these problems. I would have a Mechanic diagnos it then do the work yourself if possible. Oh and dont forget the alignment after your done the work

I posted a sticky on vibrations. Give it a read and go from there. I agree with the above post as well. Get it diagnosed and post up.

I had a real bad vibration like that. I took it to the tranny shop fearing the worst and it turned out to be the U joints. That made my day.
