converter question
 

ok..any one have a quick and painless way to shut up a cracked catalytic converter? well don't know if it's cracked....but the last off road trip made it so it's beyond annoying rattling loud....and a little embarrassing... oh yeah it's a 2000 4door 4.3

I'd check all of the exhaust heat shields to make sure they aren't causing the rattle first. Is the rattle a more high pitched 'tinny' sound (sheet metal vibration) or more of a rapid clunking?

yea now since it happened after u went offroading, maybe u cracked a torsion bar mount. it just happens to be by ur cat. also the welding on the heat sheild broke on mine and i simply took a screw clamp and tightend it all up. another possibility would be the bolts on the cats mount/bracket are loose or snapped. man what a bitch it turned out to be when i changed mine,everything had 10yrs of rust on them. big knuckle smasher!

yeah...it was already rattling for a few months now...it just got louder after my last off road adventure...but I did pull my back seat out..and pull up some of my carpet..and took the plastic floor pieces off...so that is a little reason why it's louder....*shrug* was just hoping there was an easy way to do it....only for a few more months...then I will have the new truck
