Daytime Running lights question
This is not a big deal but something that has bothered me for a while...
On my 99, the daytime running lamps (during the day obviously) shut off when either turn signal is active. On my 98 they stay on when signaling. The low beam lights do stay on at night when signaling. Both have the automatic lights that turn on in darkness. Does anyone know if this was a change to the 99??? or do i have a short in the wiring? Thanks!!! |
RE: Daytime Running lights question
Nope, no short in the wiring. It's called the flash to pass debacle... err... I mean feature... LOL
I really do not like it and I think it may be something that the dealership can turn off with their TechII scanner. You would have to call up your local dealership and ask. Or you could get Dory to ask her mechanic friend for ya. |
RE: Daytime Running lights question
So do you know if this is a Bravada feature or a change for the 99 model year in general. - just curious :)

RE: Daytime Running lights question
I do believe it is a '99+ addition for atleast the s-series suv and possibly the pickups as well...

RE: Daytime Running lights question
Thanks!
I was worried i would be chasing wires forever if it was a fault! As long as i have the expert available :) do you know if there is a way to override the auto headlight feature? I.E. is there a way to turn off the headlights at night when you have the auto on headlight feature? |
RE: Daytime Running lights question
Hit the dome override button three times in something like 5-10 seconds. You will hear a chime and your lights will turn off. Hit it three more times to restore. It will go back to daytime/auto again when restarted.

RE: Daytime Running lights question
Woops... Sorry. The flash to pass is not what this is called. It is just a DRL disable when the turn signals are active and the light sensor senses daytime. Flash to pass is used to flash the high beams if you pull back on the turn signal stalk partially (ie no click). I figured this all out when I got curious and read my owners manual... LOL
I guess this is a visibility thing because of how close the turn signals are to the lights or whatever. It is to grab more attention and I suppose that is a good thing. |
