do i need a new fuel pump?
i posted a while ago about engine problems. im now leaning towards a the fuel pump. here is what is going on...
-engine seems like it is starving for fuel or air after 3500rpm (it wont go any faster if i keep the rpm up) -there is a rapid ticking noise whenever i accelerate -the gas guage goes up when the rpms go up, and down when the rpm drop -my car has stalled on me a few times when im coming to a stop after driving on the freeway (seems to only do it when it is low on gas) -randomly has hard starts(needs to crank over longer for it to start) i have a 95 with a 4.3 CPI, with almost 200xxx miles on it. what do you guys think? i replaced the fuel filter, and did an ignition tune up. no codes come up. i brought to a shop, and they said all the sensors are reading what they are supposed to read. |
RE: do i need a new fuel pump?
There is a fuel pressure checking valve just behind the rght side of Plenum. Have a garage do a fuel pressure check on it. Only takes 5 minutes. About 58-60 PSi is what you need to have good pressure.

RE: do i need a new fuel pump?
i forgot to note, when i took it to a shop they did that as well, and said the fuel pressure was fine. i basically paid $80 for the mechanic to suggest using a fuel injector cleaner. any other help would be greatly appreciated!
