Driver's Side Power Seat

My Driver's side power seat is driving me crazy. It'll go forward, up and down. But it will not go back and im a tall guy and the seat is stuck far forward. Arghh its a really uncomfortable ride, so is there anyway to manually move the seat back at all until i can get it looked at? Any ideas on what went wrong?

Thanks

RE: Driver's Side Power Seat

All I know is that there are separate motors for up and down and back and forth.
I believe they can be accessed by removing the trim fron the left side of the seat. I think the trim is held on with 3 screws.
If it's worn brushes in an electric motor a light tap with the switch activated will sometimes get the motor to work again (short term).

RE: Driver's Side Power Seat

These are bi-directional dc motors so they use the same wiring for for-aft....they just reverse the current flow to operate the same motor in different directions....this means that the motor and the wiring are good because it works in the forward position. That also tells me that the switch is the failed component....probably burnt contacts for the aft position. Replace the switch and you'll be good to go.
