Engine code pulled

First a little bit of history on it. After i have been driving the 99 blazer for awhile, usually on long trips, I'll jump on the gas and the SES light will illuminate. Absolutely nothing feels wrong pedal/enginewise and then after a full warm-up and cooldown cycle or two it goes away. I had the guy at Autozone pull the code and he came up with a 101. His little flip book showed five things that could be wrong. A few of them were a dirty MAF, jacked up MAP or vacum hose leaking clogged or disconnected. Anyone else ever had this code or know of a book or something that could provide me a few details? Thanks for any help I know I'll get from you guys.

Have you got the factory air box/cleaner or a cone style oiled gauze. If it is a K&N style with oil the MAF maybe needing a good cleaning. Clean it anyway if it has not been done then you should do it now... CRC chemicals makes a MAF specific cleaner...

I was planning on cleaning the MAF first. I started thinking back to when i first got the truck and remembered how filthy the paper filter was. I also remembered that the first time this happened was before i removed the old filter. I'll ask around town to see if i can find the cleaner. If not i'm jist gonna hit it with some compressed air for electrical components. Anyone else have any ideas?

NO COMPRESSED AIR, the wires are easily broken. If you can't find the CRC cleaner then go to Radio Shack and get some electronic parts cleaner, that does not leave a residue.

Yeah, you are headed in the right direction:

P0101 - Mass Air Flow System Performance

Most of the time this is caused by a dirty MAF sensor. And you don't have to have an aftermarket oiled air filter to get a dirty MAF.

Also, I think we'll be seeing much more of this type of problem in the next few weeks/months as a dirty MAF sensor causes more problems the colder the temps get outside.
