Engine cut out
Hi All
My wife drive a 96 chevy blazer automatic.. Recenty it has begun to stall usually during busy city traffic, Out on the open road she does not experience the problem as often only rarely. It is easy to start but there is usually a stong smell of gasoline when it fires up. She has done the usual, change filters etc but no luck.. Also noticed that when she keeps the tank above half the proble is less ,,maybe a coincidence,,dont know..If anybody has experienced the same problem or have some advice i would appreciate it thanks |
RE: Engine cut out
Welcome to the site.
Have you changed the fuel filter? I always recommend draining and then shaking the fuel filter on a light coloured cloth. If there is much black colour or black material in there it's a sign of a failing fuel pump. If it's stalling at idle, maybe a vacuum leak from hard, cracked vacuum lines. How are the spark plugs? Any codes or check engine light staying on? With the smell of gas, I would wonder if an injector was leaking. How mechanically inclined and equipped are you? Sorry, lots of questions and no answers...........yet. |
