Fuel Filter?
 

Ive replaced the fuel filter on my Mercury before with the help of somebody who knows far more about vehicles than I do. I know my Blazer needs one done (had the filter in the back for about 2 months now, never changed it).. My cougar had to have a specfic tool used to remove the old filter, is this true with Chevy Blazers as well?

Any information before I start tinkering would be hot! As my Blazer is my work truck and I cant afford to do something stupid and render it undrivable for very long.

i cant remember the size of wrench you use. but its just one inlet and one outlet that you have to unbolt. three other lines that unsnap from the plastic bracket. on bolt the bracket from the fram and easily tap the filter out of the bracket. make sure that the new filter is in the correct way as the old one. there should be an arrow on the new filter to indicate the direction of flow. then just put it back together.

You might want to release some of the pressure on the fuel line before removing the filter. there is a fuse in the box under the hood on the drivers side, start the truck and pull it out, it will cause the fuel pump to stop, and then the engine will cut out. Thats how i did mine.

No special tools. Just some metric wrenches. Can't remember the size. You'll find it on the frame rail under the drivers side door. Pretty simple job to do.

Depends on what year truck. The newer versions have a special fitting and you need a special tool to unclip the fitting. Fortunately the tool comes in aset and is fairly inexpensive for the cheap version.

Safety tip to avoid exploding yourself. Use a flashlight as a light source, not a light that runs off of 110 and plugs into a wall. While the chance is slim, you could trigger an explosion from a spark from the electricity.

Just did mine today. No problems. Remember to use a flare nut wrench on the fuel line. Also, remove the bracket and the filter as a unit then slide the old filter out of the bracket (might be a little difficult).
