HELP!!!!!
 

I'm new to this forum, so sorry if this has already been posted? I have a 2002 Blazer. I dropped my son off at school this morning, and when I tried to start my blazer, It wouldn't turn over, and I can't get the key out of the ignition. The door locks won't work, windows, etc. Not even the remote for the door locks. Battery is only about 7 mos old. Any ideas? It was running fine only 5 mins before.

Hello and welcome! It sounds like you probably have a loose or corroded battery cable. Check them and clean them first. If that doesn't correct your problem, Check and make sure the positive and negative cables are tight on the other end of them. POS. is on the starter solenoid and the NEG. is on the lower passenger side front of the engine block. If everything still checks good have your alt and Battery tested. I know the batt is fairly new but I've taken bad batterys of the shelf brand new. Let us know if you still need help but I'm pretty sure one of these will be your problem area.

Thanks for the reply> I will check the connections to be sure. I thought it could possibly be the battery since I couldn't get any power, but I couldn't understand why the key wouldn't come out.

The ignition lock has a control solenoid on it and it has to have battery power to energize the solenoid which allows the key to be turned to the lock position. ther is a hole in the lower column trim cover to manually overide it so you can get the key off/out just stick a screwdriver (small one) in the hole and push up the solenoid while doing so you can turn the key off.
