Just a post to say THANK YOU. [No spark = dead coil]
 

Our 2000 Blazer died intermittantly, 3 or 4 times, then finally died and wouldn't start.
I searched for the answer here on the Blazer Forum and found it.
It turned out to be the coil.
Being that it has ~120,000 miles on the odometer, I went ahead and changed the distributor cap, rotor, wires and spark plugs along with the coil. Hopefully I can squeeze another ~80,000+ miles out of it without too much trouble.

YEP that's why we're here...welcome to the site.......glad you fixed your problem...and don't hesitate to ask if you need help with your blazer again. By the way just normal maintenance and you'll EASILY hit that 200K mark!!!

I made a victory post just a bit too soon. [sm=sigh.gif]

The Blazer started cutting out and died again. This time my wife was ~70 miles from home when it happened.
I arrived with our car hauler in tow, luckily the Blazer started up and died twice but made it up onto the trailer under it's own power.
Having the same problem as before really through me for a loop. I had no doubt that the old coil was the culprit due to the fact that it was literally burned on one side and that the Blazer started right up and ran great immediately after replacing it.

However, I have isolated and repaired the actual problem. The weather pack connector which plugs into the top of the coil contains two wires. A red wire which supplies voltage and a white one which supplies signal.
The white wire was broken within the insulation about 1/4" above the weather pack connector. It was intermittently loosing contact, thus causing the engine to die.

The bottom line is that it is running well once again.

I can only speculate that the burned spot on the side of the original coil may have occurred due to the poor connection in the broken wire!?!
