NEED HELP WITH VACUUM LINES

HEY YALL I HAVE A 97 S10 BLAZER 4X4 AND I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE 4WD.THIS IS WHERE IM AT.I COULDNT GET THE FRON WHEELS TO LOCK IN,BUTMY DRIVE SHAFT TO THE TRANSFER CASE WAS SPINNING.SO I TOOK THE BATTERY OUT AND LOOKED AT THE ACUATOR AND IT LOOKED GOOD,BUT IT WASNT PULLING THE CABLE.SO I TRACED THE VACUUM LINE DOWN AND IT GOES TO THE TRANSFER CASE,ALONG WITH 2 OTHERS.WELL I PULLED THAT LITTLE PLASTIC THING THAT THE LINES GO IN OFF OF THE TRANSFER CASE,LOOKED AT IT AND STUCK IT BACK ON THERE.THEN I WENT UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THE MAIN LINE GOING TO THE TRANSFER CASE FROM THE VACUUM BALL BROKE,SO I TIED IT BACK IN TO ANOTHER BROKE LINE,SO NOW I HAVE VACUUM TO THE ACUATOR.WELL WHEN I LOCK IT IN IT GOES RIGHT TO 4LO,BUT WHEN I GO TO GET OUT AND GO BACK IN THE 2HI IT WONT STOP SUCKING AIR.THATS WHAT IM TRYING TO FIND OUT.IS THERE A WRONG WAY YOU CAN PUT THOSE LINE BACK ON THE TRANSFERCASE??THE LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT THEY GO TO IS LIKE A TRIANGLE.

THANKS ALOT,
BRANDON

It's been a long time since I've looked at that vacuum system, but yes, I do believe that you can install the triangle shaped plug on to the switch incorrectly.
IIRC there is a little tab on the rubber plug where it attatches to the switch. I believe that its awkward to get up there, but I'd try pulling it off, and try to line it up differently. That's the connection at the transfer case switch.
Let us know what you find.

Is your transfer case switch( where that 3 plug vacuum set goes into) bad? I replaced mine and it blew the actuator out, now Im getting rid of the vacuum system. its not worth the headache when there is an easier way of having 4x4.

RE: NEED HELP WITH VACUUM LINES

The vacuum switch screws in...use a 7/8" wrench...it is very common for these to stick like this and the front axle stays engauged. I just changed mine at the last oil change for the hell of it because I had 5 or 6 brand new ones laying in my tool box...If you need one I'll sell it shipped for $22.00.

Yes, they are splined to the wheel hub...they turn whenever the wheels are turning.
