No drain plug!!
First of all, I am a new blazer owner. I just want to say thanks for the wealth of information in this forum! It has helped me tremendously so far.
I was planning to change the oil in my front diff this morning, but there is no drain plug!! I have two different fluid pumps, but neither has hoses small enough to snake down inside to pump out the fluid. On the passenger side, there is a triangle shaped thing bolted there. Looks to be a sensor of some sort...and maybe the speedo cable??? Could I just remove that to drain it?? I will attach a picture of each side. Am I missing it??? Thanks |
RE: No drain plug!!
Welcome to the site.
I was trying to edit your pic to point out the drain bolt....no success The bottom bolt in your second pic should be the drain bolt...it's a 13mm with a washer on it. |
RE: No drain plug!!
The bolt you are talking about goes all the way through the case and is exposed on the other side. Definitely not a drain plug.
The image you posted is different from my case. It shows the plug being on the driver's side. The first picture I posted was the driver's side. Very strange. Sucks to be me. |
RE: No drain plug!!
I don't know what year pic I posted, but I guess I wasn't to sharp, sorry.
I don't have info for a 96.....so...how about the bolt directly below the filler plug. If not, then try a suction pump. I bought a suction pump for about $10 and it's served me well on many occasions I have installed a tapered nipple on the end of the hose to use as a reducer to add a smaller diameter hose also. |
RE: No drain plug!!
I have a pump ....I will just have to get some small hose and a tapered nipple like you said.
thanks for the help |
