how difficult is it 2 pull a rear posi in a s10 blazer? and does any one know what years are compatable with a 2000 s10 blazer.i will find our my rear end size (lol) today.

What is it that you need to do to your rear?

So long as your truck is not a ZR2, you should have the 7-5/8" ring gear.

I would like to add a posi. And thank you for the info 7 5/8 right.

If you're sure its not a posi now.... then dont make it one. lockers work better and you could very well install one yourself if handy with tools. This is a 2 wheel drive, right?

But if you have your heart set on it, get the whole rear end from a donor and get the big tools out. Not hard but a little heavy work.

it's 4x4. iwas attempting to climb a rock in the front yard (desperate to go wheeling ever since my X GAVE away my 69 fj55 landcruiser wagon SO w/rancho 5000s and33s) keep in mind my blazer is bone stock w/kumo AT). here is something i don't understand i did a 2' burnout in the garage and both rear tires left marks but when i tried to climb the rock only r/rear and l/front left marks any idea why?

Take a look in your glove box. If you have the G80 RPO code, you have the gov-loc limited slip differential. If you get into situations where one rear wheel is spinning, lightly drag the brake. This should be enough to get the diff to lock up and spin both tires. You DO NOT want to do this with one wheel just freewheeling however. This will destroy the diff. The gov-loc diff is not all that strong of a diff. It basically acts like a full open diff until traction is required.

What should happen, if the unit is working correctly, is a 100RPM wheel speed difference will cause the locker to engage and ramp up inside the unit and lock both tires together. So if you fnd yourself in this situation next time just keep the wheel spinning for a bit and wait for the locker to engage. Do not over rev the wheel if you do the engagement can break the unit. Also if you are moving the tires faster than 30MPH the locker wont engage either.

Heck, I thought all 4 wheel drives these days had posi. I'm not a 4 wheel guy for sure. But a good locker system doesnt have any of these problems. I dont know ANYTHING about how to work on the front wheel end of it. But that only cause I havent worked on the first one YET.

Cant believe you would have the change anything to do a little recreational running. Real rock climbing vehicles dont generally pick up the groceries???
