slave cylinder ?
 

i have a 99 s10 4 banger 2wd (mini truck), its a stick and recently i noticed my clutch feeling very soft and then nothing, no clutch at all. so i notice that im low on fluid, refill go down the road and again it happens. so i make it home and try and refill and away it goes in front of my own eyes. im banking on a worn slave cylinder and i have already spoke to some of you on this subject. now i have no visible leaks and i can hear a swishing sound in the bell housing. the truck did sit through a winter, so possibly dried up any seals. my question is before i go waste deep in clutch fluid and remove the tranny, can i be expecting anything other then the slave cylinder being worn; meaning are these symptoms of probably something else. i liked to get this all done at one shot so any thoughts will help.

There should be an access hole in the trans to access the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder. You could try bleeding the clutch before you pull the tranny, I know I would.

Oh fun an internal slave (shivers with the old 13 spd dump truck days that had the same setup)

Make sure you have yourself covered when you pull that trany back :D

I would also check the res. I know that the Master cycl. on the older trucks would leak at the firewall. But if they were mounted to a break booster it was easy to see that leak. On non power assisted it would leak into the cab.

no it leaks into the housing, why i think slave cyl. and im sure i have filled that thing, so yes it will be messy very messy. im planning on wear a mask and goggles. but chevylover, how 'bout some knowledge on bleeding the clutch and what might that do for me, might the screw be fully open. that would rock. save me a headache, but i still gotta drain/maybe siphon out the fluid. maybe through the access hole.
