starting problems
 

Grat forum, hope you can help! I have a 96 blazer, new fuel pump about 4 months ago. 2 weeks ago, it will not start in the morning. Pump is humming away, but I can crank and crank and no fire. A shot of starting fluid fires it right up and it is good for the day. The next morning, no fire again. Any ideas?

:DMaybe a clogged fuel filter or clogged Injectors OR a bad Coil some ideas i have for you.

I changed the fuel filter today, no help.

Did you check to see if its getting spark? Also maybe Fuel Injectors are clogged...If it fires up after u spray starting fluid it seems as its not getting gas in all the right places...Also do you have a scanner? you might want to see what codes its throwing....might be easier then going and spending lots of $ on things that dont need to be replaced....

If you get a tool get one to check fuel pressure. It sounds like the pressure is leaking off. Your fuel pump should be able to pump up the fuel system to 55-60psi and hold that, if it leaks then you have to find the leak.

Most likely fuel pressure regulator - fuel metering spider - pressure sensor in the fuel return line in the tank...or even the fuel line into the fuel meter body.

Do you smell excessive smell of fuel??? If you take off the air cleaner lid on the Throttle Body and open the throttle valve and smell for fuel. If there is it should be barely to undetectable if things are good, if you detect the odor of fuel then the leak is under the intake and you need to figure out if it is the regulator or the fuel metering body (spider). If the leak is in the spider then you have a choice. GM has an upgrade kit that uses LS1 injectors instead of poppets at the end of the spider and it is available either as a replacemnt from the dealer or you can find it on E-Bay but some of the sellers on E-bay are selling these kits for about the same price as GM wants at their dealers so check the dealer price before you go to E-bay to buy it...also you can check gmperformanceparts.com.
