RE: transmission question..

I'm guessing that the 92 is a 4.3 not a 4.6. The 94 should have a 4l60e trans, the 92 should have a 700r4 trans. The 94 is an electronic shifted trans, the 92 is a cable operated trans. Can it be swapped, probably, will it be worth the headache, probably not. I personly have this same problem going on right now and have opted to just spend the cash on the transmission that I know will work in my 94. Beside's that how many transmission's do you want to swap?

RE: transmission question..

IIRC...both of these have the same transmission....a 700r4....I think they switched to the 4L60E in late 1995 early 1996 MY...again IIRC. If you have a throttle valve cable hooked to the throttle body on both of them, then you should be able to do a direct swap.

RE: transmission question..

Both of my 94's have 4l60e transmissions in them. 1 is 2wd 1 is 4wd, neither is tbi. I have yet to see a 94 model tbi. I'am not saying they didn't make them, just haven't run across one yet.

RE: transmission question..

yea from what I can see they quit using the tv cable after 1992....my mistake I thought they used it until at least 1995....sorry for the mis-info. By the way, they did offer 2 engine codes in 1994 Z which is CPI, and W which is TBI.

I don't now if they are interchangeable, but.....

Measure the length of the transmissions. The 2wd from the tail end to the engine block, The 4wd, well its got a t case in the back. measure the drive shafts too. Also, check wher the tranny and engine bolt holes are the same places, (on the block...)

RE: transmission question..

If they are both throttle body like my 91's are they are a vin Z. If they are both cpi like my 94's are they are vin W. So in theory if they have the same vin code it should work.
