As for any performance changes, the headers, cats, and the Y-pipe are the major restriction points in the exhaust, so unless you replace everything I wouldn't expect any major changes in any performance metric. Because those are all upstream from the muffler, the muffler and larger down-stream cat-back tubes won't change anything with the back-pressure.

As for MPG, I did not notice any change to my fuel economy with that mod.

Can you use the stock tail pipe with the dynomax muffler?

You can do anything if you are decent with a welder. Lots of places where you could find size adapters to adapt the muffler output to the factory 1.75" pipes. The smaller pipe would likely result in a fairly quiet exhaust. Personally, I have a custom 2.75" pipe downstream from the muffler to the fender behind the rear passenger tire, similar to the routing of the factory exhaust.
