4.3L Blazer Exhaust

I like my dynomax super turbo cat back muffler+exhaust kit, and 3" flowmaster 30 series tip
(this exhaust set up was cheappp and easy) not only is it legal, it sounds like a 6 and i'm damn proud of my 6 cylinder, i would how ever enjoy having a custom like we have on the silverado, dual exhaust with magnaflow stainless tips

I'd enjoy the bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh idle sound

If that Blazer has a good cat, keep it on. It's not restricting flow enough to notice on the street. Besides that without a decent muffler, in my opinion, it'll be too loud and annoying. I say if it has a good cat, go with a glasspack, a cheap one like a Flowtech or Summit Racing. With both of those it'll be loud but not too loud, definitely get you noticed. If it has a bad/clogged/no cat, go with a good muffler like a Thrush, the Turbo to keep it quiet when cruising but loud when you step on it, or the Welded for a more agressive sound, a good bit louder. Do not go with no cat and a glasspack, that'll be super loud and annoying and sound like a ricer bigtime.
My friend has a 91 Camaro with a 305 TBI with a glasspack on it and it sounds amazing, the only thing keeping me from doing the same for the Blazer is that I didn't know if it would give as nice a sound comparably for a V6, and I had always thought that glass packs didn't last and had to be replaced, but if they still work after they burn out then I guess thats what I'll do.
I wanted to try a chambered exhaust but its kinda expensive to get the right one and then get it shipped to my location.

Buddy has a zr2 with a glasspack on it.. he cranked it and i smelled cherries, i love my turbo cat, idle is great, mid-throttle still ROARS, and full throttle is awesome to put it the least

You could also just run it with no muffler(straight pipe it) that sounds pretty badass check it on YouTube.

I went with a flowmaster 44 series, no cat, 2.5" all the way back, and it by far is the best sounding exhaust I ever heard. It sounds so mean at idle, I picked up mileage and a ton of power! Just single exhaust, no fake duals, run the same way the stock one was run. I get so many compliments and offers to buy it's crazy. As far as the most power out of an exhaust, I think edelbrock offers the best tuned mufflers out there. They sound almost as good. But i'd go with the flowmaster

i have a thrush welded on my blazer and the cat was taken out about 2 yrs ago. i like the way it sounds and it is very loud. as stated before you can tell its a v6 when you listen but does sound like a v8.

ive got a new cat one year ago, with the lmc cat back exhaust about 2 years ago, they have what seems to be a glass pack in each of the tips, they are burnt out now, this is what is sounds like....fast forward to 1 minute in.1:24 in, and 2:54.

I wanted to try a Flowmaster 40 or 44 on my Camaro but I never got around to doing it. Now you guys have me between a glass pack or a Flowmaster lol

I checked Walker and they list 2.25" in/2" out mufflers, so that means 2.25" from y-pipe to muffler and a 2" tail. You want a good throaty sound and more power? Chop that all off, scrap it, and put on 2.5" from the y-pipe to the bumper, which opens up the flow, and the bigger pipe makes it deeper and louder. If you want a real loud exhaust and you like the pop when you hit it hard and let off (which I like on a V6) then I say get a glasspack, any one will be fine (glasspacks tend to neck down inside, so I always go up a half inch in glasspack size from the rest of the exhaust, a shop can use reducers to get one to fit). If you want a quieter but deeper rumble with a loud agressive sound and a little pop, then get a Thrush Welded, it's the same as a Flowmaster 40 but half the price and less rust prone.
You can get either at Advance or O'Reilly, they can probably order you one or see if an exhaust shop can order it for you as they put it together. Summit or Jegs is about the same or a bit cheaper after shipping than an auto parts store, I say talk to a shop and see if they can get the muffler you want, sometimes they don't charge as much overall if you get everything from them.
And btw I may have missed it but glasspacks don't necessarily need replacing after a year. If it rusts out and leaks then yes, if you need packing then forget it, modern EFI engines run hotter than old carbed engines so after a month or so, depending on the mileage the packing will be gone, but it won't leak out or anything so it's still good, just louder.

No one supports the straight pipe idea?
