Advantages of Holley over Stock Rochester 220 TBI

I was looking at getting a Holley TBI which has 400CFM and getting rid of the stock Rochester 220 TBI. I was trying to find all the specs on the Rochester TBI but i cant seem to find any. Is the holley even worth getting?

I have seen flow numbers around 480CFM. Higher if you get an injector pod spacer. The bored TBs flow over 600CFM.

whats an injector pod spacer? is that a throttle body spacer? Also have you ever heard of a 2.8L V6 Having this Rochester 220 TBI setup? because every place i looked said that this is supposed to be matched to a 4.3L.

Oh wait... 2.8L... Sorry, I quoted for the 4.3L/5.0L/5.7L throttle body. A 2.8L throttle body will not flow that amount.

The 2.8L & 3.1L throttle body had 1.375" bores while the 4.3L/5.0L/5.7L TB has 1.688" bores. Just taking the difference (percentage wise), that would put the flow rate of the 2.8L/3.1L TB theoretically at around 400CFM. I am sure that it is less than this due to choking off of the air flow due to the injector pod proximity to the air horn.

The injector spacer is a piece that raises the injector pod up away from the main body of the TB to reduce the choking off effect that is typical. I do not know if the same one that is available for the 4.3L/5.0L/5.7L TB will work with the 2.8L/3.1L TB.

I thought that the TBI setups on both were about the same thing? could I take the one off the 4.3L and stick it on the 2.8L?

do you think with alittle modification that i could take the throttle body off of a 4.3L V6 and stick it on a 2.8L V6?

I believe it will work so long as you open up the intake bores for the larger throttle body bores. You will definitely want to make sure that the injectors in the 4.3L TBI unit are the same flow rate. The 1987 4.3L TBI setup had mismatched injector sizes. You likely will have to get your PCM tuned (or do it yourself - diy-efi.com or thirdgen.org for more information on TBI tuning) to use the larger throttle body.

Found THIS PAGE for you.

thats alot. i think i might just do an engine swap before i would do that. not to get off subject but there isnt much to do to the 2.8L V6 is there?

Nope.
