Dual Exhaust opinion
 

I'm considering putting an exhaust system on my blazer, and my buddy is wanting to do the same on his f-150. We can usually follow instructions well enough to save the $200 in labor.

Anyone have suggestions on what brand for the $ is the best? Also, what brand would be the easiest to install?

Do you want a complete exhaust system or do you want to buy individual parts for your own kind of system ? imo it is easier to just throw a classic Flowmaster 40 series and a high flow cat along with a tip .... either a weld on or bolt on to make it all look complete or you can search for a preset system if they make them for your particular model and year ... hope that helps

I have a Magnaflow high-flow cat from Advance ($80) and a flowmaster super 44 single out from Advance ($100) and had Meineke weld them on and add a 2.5" tailpipe for $60. Truck sounds great, but IMO the tailpipe is necessary, had the cat and flowmaster on with a pre-axle dump, stock tailpipe, and custom tailpipe, and it did not sound right until the custom tailpipe. Huge difference. If I get a chance, I will try to make a vid and post it of how it sounds.

This is a sound clip of mine with current setup, looking to do a dual outlet muffler at some point, maybe switching to a Flowmaster delta flow 40 series.

You definitely do need a tip what it will do is "even" the sound out if you don't have a tip it will sound "uneven" if that makes any sense ... anyways what I am going to do for my exhaust setup is stay with the stock cat get a flowmaster outlaw shorty muffler (the 3" in/out) and a 3" in 5" out tip angled slightly downward the result should sound something like this .....

Sounds great, I agree. Only issue for me is how loud that setup is, I do a lot of side-work for other people and had many complaints when I had my 95' S10 straightpiped, which sounds almost like that truck does. Also get real obnoxious when going long distances especially with a load (and if the load is heavy enough to have to disengage OD)

lol yeah that could be a downfall but if you don't really haul anything your golden haha

I guess I'm a cheap bast, I had local exhaust shop peace together a dual exhaust system for me and I installed it myself in my driveway. Need exhaust shop to bend pipes.
