exhaust leak

i believe i have an exhaust leak when i start my truck up and you get that original condensation because the engine is cool i can see it dripping out from right behind the muffler (where it connects to the tailpipe) and i know its not the best thing in the world to have a leak would it be worth it to save some money to just cut it off or unbolt the clamps its on and just run a straight pipe from behind the cat out? would the change in backpressure hurt the engine /mpgs even though its a blazer and everything hurts mpgs except sitting or would it be worth it to live with the leak and save up for a new muffler preferably an aggressive one because i like the sound or would it be worth it to take it off and then save or just take it off and just never have one again

If its at the bottom of the muffler under the tailpipe, that hole is suppose to be there. it keeps water from building up and rusting the muffler inside out. Dont delete the muffler or you will loose some bottom end torque/power.
