Replacing cat??

Hey my cat is gone in my 88' blazer, and i was wondering if it would be ok to just replace it with a piece of pipe. There is no emissions where i live so that is not a problem and i really dont want to spend the money on a new one if i can just replace it with a piece of pipe. Is there any down sides or ups to doing this??

RE: Replacing cat??

my brother did it on his 97 s10 and it made him have no back pressure, and he only got 13 mpg instead of 20+ mpg.

RE: Replacing cat??

get a catco universal converter from summit. i put one on my old k5 blazer and on my escort. they both passed emmissions and ran great. they are only around $60 i think. if you go for a direct fit, then they will run you some more $$
