Default P.A. 2" Lift question

O.K. all, I just purchaced a P.A. 2" lift for my 2000 jimmy 4 door. It has a
factory tow hitch mounted to the frame rails, Question is: will i be able to use the tow hitch with the lift kit, the instructions mention nothing about this>>>

If the hitch is mounted to the frame then you should be able to. I haven't done a lift, but since you're doing only a body lift then your frame mounted hitch should be left the same. Just my logic.

Same lift here...factory hitch...no problems. The rear bumper is cosmetic, I guess, and rises up over the hitch...no worries.

anything, just making sure, its all going to happen at the end of the month, body lift, 2" shackle lift, new Energy Suspension body mounts,
I'm only having 4 days off to do it all, thanks for replying, if any one else
has info please bring it on..

I just did the PA lift yesterday. I have a factory hitch, and to remount the bumper, it had to come off. My hitch, looked to be frame mounted, but it was attached by 4 bolts on each side of the bumper. The relocation plates mount on to the side of the bumper where the hitch is mounted. So mine had to come off. You also will have to have some kind of cutting tool, because you have tocut a good chunk out of the bumper to clear the frame in order to mount it on the new mounting plates. It was not fun, and im bummed about my hitch.
Mine is a 2001 blazer 4 door. If it is mounted the same way, the hitch will have to come off.

BTW okiedoak, i see your in woodbridge, i am at fort belvoir. If you need more info or want to see what it looks like finished, pm me.

If I remember right, the brackets elevated the bumper so there is atually more clearance now between the bumper and the tow hitch. I just re-read you post though...mine is a 2 door...dunno why that would make a difference, if it would at all.

o.k. all i went looking through a lot of the photo's on this site, and there must be a 1000 of them and what i have isint what im seeing in the photo's. my hitch and bumper mount are all one piece, so if i remove the factory rear bumper mount i will also have to remove the hitch also, and if i decide to use the hitch some fabricating looks to be in order, and also a little welding, there also is a different hitch that mounts like an aftermarket type with a bracket that drops down and a square type reciever hitch is welded to it. I hope im not creating a monster here, but i really like to keep everything together. btw i have the round tube type hitch that has several bends to fit nice and tight under the bumper, if this helps. thanks to all

I called Performance Accesories today and talked to a Tech Guy,
and the Blazer/Jimmy lift kit #152 was tested and designed around a stock
vehicle with out the factory installed towing package.
So the answer to this thread would be to remove the factory tow hitch,
and either modify it to work, or replace it with and after market Resse
or U-Haul hitch that will work because of the different type of brackets
used attach the hitch with, or just leave it off... (well thats not an option)
I will get some pics in the future and try to do a "how to" on this...

thanks every one who chimed in with thoughts and ideas.
Robert
