Gap Guards?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a set of gap guards cheap as in $100 or a cheap way to make some homemade ones?

also could you post any pics of home made guards & what you made'em out of? Thanks guys

1984-03 - CHEVY S-10 BLAZER - Gap Guards - Chevy GMC

you can prob find them cheaper if you keep looking around

i used the large truck floormats that cover the floor side to side and just cut them out.
one covered both sides..with a drill and some plastic retaining clips...waaayyy less then 100.

Gio- thanks for the link. I've found alot of sets around that price.. just hoping to do it cheaper..

Warthog- did you get the floor at a truck stop or do you remember where? jw

I picked up some rubber floor mats @ wal-mart for 10 bucks or something. Had screws for it already.

Never thought of the floor mat idea.. thats a good one tho. any kind of plastic or rubber that is long enough to cover everything would work, as long as you can cut it.

Find a place that has conveyor belts. I asked dad what they did with the worn out ones where he works and the next day I had a 12 x 2 foot roll of 1/4 inch belt on my porch. Turned out they just threw it away. Bit thicker than I would suggest (or wanted) but free was the right price. 1/8 inch thick would be ideal.

Used butcher paper, duct tape, a sharpie to make my templates. A sharpe box cutter to cut the outline and a 30-30 case as a punch for my holes. Some stainless steel bolts and lock nuts to attach them.

If you offroad I've seen limbs come up and rip the plastic clips and thin poly premade guards right off tearing them to shreds. Mine might have taken some time to make and thicker than I really wanted but if a limb big enough to rip them comes up I bet its gonna be big enough to make a new drain hole in the floor.
