Soo once upon a time I bought a blazer and it was awful. Beat to poop had like 10 lbs of oil pressure max. So I Sold it to my dumb sister for over double what I paid.
A couple years later I got a super clean Sonoma It was my dd and wheeling toy. I ended up destroying cv’s, bj’s, hubs, and crashed into a pole. So I went out and got a pair of 79 f250 axles 44/60 combo, with flat tops. Got junk yard Dakota springs, ranger spring hangers and I am still acquiring parts. So far I’ve got my front crossmember mounted and the og one cut out. Front spring pack together and cut out the hump on the driver side of the frame to make it look like the other side. Now for pictures.

so I got some stuff done as you’ll see. Got the truck on the wheels. Shackle angle is iffy. Might wanna bring them a little forwards.

Ground to bottom of frame 18.5 with 27” tires. Not bad.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...df52498ac.jpeg
Update. So I cut my shackle mounts off and moved them like 2 or so inches forwards. In the process I have to cut my exhaust. No biggie
Ended up with 30 degree shackle angle

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...9a2f5f027.jpeg
Neither of these shackle pics have weight on the truck.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...de69389e1.jpeg
Cut the chin spoiler off my bumper and threw it in to see what it’s gonna look like.

blazen_red_4x4 06-10-2020 10:30 PM

I like the progress! And the backstory lol

Not going to lie though, I'm a little concerned about the use of what looks like the 90 amp 120v Harbor Freight flux core welder used to stitch together a SAS. I have the same welder and I wouldn't trust it to get enough penetration to weld a new tongue to my trailer lol

christine_208 06-10-2020 11:23 PM

Cool build. I'll be looking forward to more updates!

Got all my drum parts and ball joints. Also got the filter fitting to put it on the block. The welder is a 220 flux core and it can burn holes in 1/2 steel if I wanted to. Not a concern at all.

Shock tower. Took a different approach then most people. How’s it look?

DonL 03-03-2021 03:37 PM

I think you might need the "loop" to keep it centered. But I like it

Tom A 03-03-2021 06:20 PM

Looks to me like it will eventually fatigue and break off.

I've been welding for 40 years and I'm a lot better at it than you are. I don't get what's so funny.

DonL 03-04-2021 08:06 AM

Lol yes, not a lot, but enough. I'm not saying nothing bad about the welds.... just think a single support will flex after time with enough force on it, no mater the welds...
