Soo once upon a time I bought a blazer and it was awful. Beat to poop had like 10 lbs of oil pressure max. So I Sold it to my dumb sister for over double what I paid.
A couple years later I got a super clean Sonoma It was my dd and wheeling toy. I ended up destroying cv’s, bj’s, hubs, and crashed into a pole. So I went out and got a pair of 79 f250 axles 44/60 combo, with flat tops. Got junk yard Dakota springs, ranger spring hangers and I am still acquiring parts. So far I’ve got my front crossmember mounted and the og one cut out. Front spring pack together and cut out the hump on the driver side of the frame to make it look like the other side. Now for pictures. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...9298b6b71.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...194ecc266.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...a23dcc3a3.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...e1f315b76.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...af704f8f3.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...4f839d5f9.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...af8b018d7.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...7bc3579b6.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...5ac0f9e8a.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...edb089036.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...b199dd2bb.jpegDid some work tonight got the hangers tacked in place. And I started to get the old perches off my 60 https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...d90faf2ca.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...33e15bcfb.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...bfd65e4b1.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...e4309ba03.jpeg so I got some stuff done as you’ll see. Got the truck on the wheels. Shackle angle is iffy. Might wanna bring them a little forwards. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...42f222db8.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...5b0121db2.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...f266563f1.jpeg Ground to bottom of frame 18.5 with 27” tires. Not bad. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...df52498ac.jpeg Update. So I cut my shackle mounts off and moved them like 2 or so inches forwards. In the process I have to cut my exhaust. No biggie Ended up with 30 degree shackle angle https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...9a2f5f027.jpeg Neither of these shackle pics have weight on the truck. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...de69389e1.jpeg Cut the chin spoiler off my bumper and threw it in to see what it’s gonna look like. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...61df07c31.jpeg These are stock 8 lug Steelies and they stick out just a little bit lol. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...7081e4994.jpeg Got a bunch of parts in. Still waiting on a few things tho. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...5fd832cc2.jpeg Last piece of the puzzle. UPDATE. Welded on my rear perches and set my pinion angle. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...ee69034a8.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...af011adc6.jpeg U bolt eliminators almost done. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...f65a89e22.jpeg Full droop. Replacing all brake parts https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...0475ff272.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...2c364a7af.jpeg Took abs bull poop off and got a regular disk/drum prop valve |

Made a bracket for my prop valve https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...bec8f6c80.jpeg Got about 20’ of brake line, probably gonna need a little more |
I like the progress! And the backstory lol
Not going to lie though, I'm a little concerned about the use of what looks like the 90 amp 120v Harbor Freight flux core welder used to stitch together a SAS. I have the same welder and I wouldn't trust it to get enough penetration to weld a new tongue to my trailer lol |
Cool build. I'll be looking forward to more updates!

Got all my drum parts and ball joints. Also got the filter fitting to put it on the block. The welder is a 220 flux core and it can burn holes in 1/2 steel if I wanted to. Not a concern at all. |

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...a7ba5ebcd.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...6937319fa.jpeg Passenger slider https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...5c087a371.jpeg Chicago locker https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...6434a893c4.jpg Automatic locker for the front https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...185d87a46.jpeg Pulled the front axle and everything off it. Just waiting on my axle seals. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...e20a86c14.jpeg Made an oil catch can. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...7e885ec89.jpeg 1/25/21- pulled my carrier out and was ready to install my locker but my thrust washers had about 10 thousandth wore on each. So I ordered new ones, along with 13” travel shocks. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...52e408d85.jpeg Axle seals and locker installed. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...b33a27072.jpeg axle is back in. Started on shock mounts. Need to make steering spacer. |
Getting somewhere! Looks good. Those are long arse shocks! Lol

Shock tower. Took a different approach then most people. How’s it look? |
I think you might need the "loop" to keep it centered. But I like it
|
Looks to me like it will eventually fatigue and break off.

have you guys even ever welded 😂.

Lol yes, not a lot, but enough. I'm not saying nothing bad about the welds.... just think a single support will flex after time with enough force on it, no mater the welds...
