lifted driveline vibrations....still!!!

ok, so here is the short version...

installed 5" bds lift....got vibrations....swapped out u joints (they were shot)...still vibrations. now i have added 6 degree shims....still vibrations.
i actually think they got worse...the driveline angle looks much better though.

i have 2" shackles in rear along with the shims...could the combo be causing this?
would i be better to get add a leaf to make up the 2" diff and lose the shackles?
i checked the u-joints again and they are still good.

any help would be appreciated right now....out of ideas!!:icon_doh:

vibrations occur between 20-30 mph...i do alot of city driving now so this is not helpful.

When I had my BDS, 6 degree shims is what I used also.
No vibs at all.
Have you checked tire balance lately?
Shackles & Shims I don't think is a problem.

i just had the tires put on 3 weeks ago...i checked for a missing weight.
i didnt see any, i will have them pro checked.
its a pita, with the spacers no one will put them on or off.

ok so i finally had my tires checked....all good and blanced.
i really dont know what it could be...

Have you checked your CV's? Maybe they were on their way down the tubes and when you added a little bit of CV angle with the lift it was the nail in their coffin.

up date, went to shop where i bought lift and we took a peek.
cv shafts are good....the culprit looks to be the front dif driveshaft...
we were there going thru what i did...shims...wheels balanced...then my moment of greatness.

he asks.."replace the u-joints?"
yes both of them...
he asks again..."you replace/check your you u-joints?" (with a grin)
then i think..whats he getting at?:icon_shrug:
i say yes both of them...just last week.
he says..."you missed one?"
what???
he says..."front drive-line to front differential...see right there?"
i felt like such a moron....:icon_doh:

so we look at it and it looks pretty rough.
he says..."dont worry i wont tell anyone and laughs a little"

pretty cool guys over there. so it looks like i have another little job to do.

sometimes the most obvious things are hardest to see i guess.

makes sense...particular speed vibration and front vibration location....d'ohhhhhhhhhh

Good Deal, glad you got it worked out.

lol. I thought you replaced your U joints? :D

Glad you figured it out. There's nothing worse than driving down the road and thinking "What the hell is wrong now?" Of course we always think of the worst case scenario.
