lifting questions
i want to get a 2" body lift on my 97 blazer i've priced some places out , i just want to know is it true you have to lift everything else as well eg,rad, steering colum etc? i was priced $1200.00 i thought that was a bit extreme!

Nope! The Body lift kit itself is only 200.00 and if your slightly mechanical at all you can do it in your driveway in a weekend taking your time and follow the directions. Yuo lift the body only, a couple of extensions, thats it

How much of that price is labour and how much is the cost of the body lift? A body lift for yout 97 should be between $150-$250 for the kit, depending on where you get it. From there it would depend on how many hours the shop is charging for labour and what their rate is. Personally I think that price is WAY overinflated.
I did my own in about 7 hours, on the driveway with hand tools. On the Blazers you do not need to adjust the steering column, unless you have a ZR2, and even then it's just ovaling the bolt holes to drop it 1/2 an inch. The radiator is not moved, but the fan shroud is. You can download the install manual for most manufacturer's kits from their websites. Oldskoolsoldier posted a How-To video when he installed his body lift that is a great reference if you decide to do your own. |
yeah, at 1200.00 your being taken for a ride.
its not that hard...alot of us around here have done it ourselves. |

And yeah, that's extreme for a price unless they charge over $100/hr shop rate. :icon_saywhat: Which is also nuts. |

You don't have to do anything special with the ZR2 body lift, unless it's a pre-98 thing. I just know I didn't have to do anything with mine.

Holly He** thats alot!!! Here the body lift you need is only $150!!! Read the instructions a few times, look at others builds, and like El said check out oldskools video and tackle it yourself! Even if you have to buy yourself a few tools to get the job done your still coming out way ahead and you will have the tools in your arsenal for later on down the road when you are ready to tackle the next mod:)

What's the main differences between years that the body lifts fit? Is it just the bumper relocation brackets, or are the body mounts points that different between 97 and 99? Will the lift kit from 97 fit on my 99?
