Newbie question 1987 S15 Jimmy

Hi All,
Brand new to the forum, just got my Jimmy a few days ago. My question is, I was thinking about putting some kind of lift kit in it. What is the highest a guy can go without doing any abnormal wear and tear... I have seen lift kits from 2.3 inches to 6 inches... any suggestions.
thanks,
bob

For the 2nd generation Blazers, even a 2" lift consisting mainly of a torsion-bar lift and longer rear shackles, there will be some extra wear. Off the top of my head, this consists of the following:
  • Upper ball-joint wear due to excessive angle of upper control arm. (I installed the Rough Country upper control arms to mitigate this).
  • CV joint boots tearing, failing at folds, or coming off the hubs due, again, to the excessive angle.
  • Could be more wear on all front end components.
