Okay quick question..I have got the bottom shackle bushing off my drivers side (where the leaf eyelet goes) and am ready to replace that one. Can I just got to advance auto and ask for a Moog shackle bushing? Are they all universal? If not what size do I need? I've read through a bunch of threads and haven't really seen definitive answer.

My next question is, is there a bushing on the top bolt that runs through the frame? I read one post saying there wasn't and got extremely excited because the bottom was a royal PITA!! Oh and its a 2 door 2000 blazer if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any replies! I hate not driving my own vehicle and rely on my parents cars.

 

Anybody?? I got the bottom bushing at advanced for like $12 and another few bucks for hardware. Got grade 8's. If everything goes smoothly in the morning ill finish everything up. Wish me luck.

 

yes there is a bushing on the top rear shackle mount (frame mount) if i remember right i think they are different, both of mine had to be cut out then i drilled out the rubber in the bushing and finally was able to install the poly type, mine were a total PITA, and i never did the front spring mounts after that butt whippin... the poly type bushings do not have the outer metal sleeve around them..

yeah the ones in the frame suck. ive changed one once and that was enough. unless its really bad leave it alone. the spring ones arent to bad cause once you get the bolt out you can lower it down. i love setting them on fire, let them burn for a while and hit them with the air hammer they go flying out. then you can air chissel the sleeve out.

for installation i always wire wheel the heck out of the spring, grease it up then you can press it in there with a ball joint press if you have one. or smack it in with a hammer

 

Had very few problems with it afterall! You can read how I ended up getting it out in my build thread. Ended up not having to need a new one, thank the lord!
