Some Blazers rub, some don't, I don't get it
 

I don't understand how some people can put in a BL with shackles and t-bar and still rub with 31's. But then some people only do the t-bars and shackles with 31's and have no issue... Someone care to explain? I'm talking 2nd gens.

I think it just depends on the tires and the driving. I had 31s with bodylift and tbar/shackle lift and they rubbed. The problem is some tires may say they are 31s but if you actually measure them they are smaller. Another factor is how you drive it. If you are just driving down the road with out any bump. Mainly bumps while turning. Then you will be fine. In my case we have junk roads and i take it on the trails. So they did rub the top of the fenders. One more thing is what people mean my off-roading. Is it just going down a trail through the woods? Or, is it a little more extreme with uneven ground with logs and rocks.

Well I'm planning on doing t-bar and shackles this weekend when I get back from work. I want 31's. All I do is light trail riding, no logs or rocks(usually). And play a little in the mud. I'm kind of leaning towards 30x9.5 possibly.

People forget to read the manufacturers specs when they purchase tires. 88s10blazer, I would just get 31's because you'll regret it later if you purchase 30's. Just IMO.

If you look at grillzy's post or mine in a couple other threads, you will see that how you drive is not the factor. I have shackles, tbarcrank, and bodylift on 31s, and I cant turn on flat ground at anyspeed without the backs of the front tires rubbing on the fender, bad rubbing. Grillzy had the same problem, and so has other people ive talked to on here. I know I have lower backspace, but grillzy has the popular cammaro wheels alot of people on here have, and both of us had to cut over an inch out of the fender.
Its got to be differences in factory setup. Also I agree with nj4x4Blaze, get the 31s, its worth the hassel

IMHO, I think it has alot to do with just how wore out the factory t/b and springs are from the beginning. If they are weak before the mods, then they will still be weak after. I tweeked my t/b's and added shackles (w/ 31" tires) and only had to trim @ 1/2" from bottom rear of wheel wells for turning. Later I added the body lift and I don't rub at all at any time. I feel that I have even pushed my Blazer to the limits sometimes. Just my opinion, I think it depends on the suspension components' condition from the start.:icon_twocents:

Same thing with the old k5s. I had a 4 inch lift and 33s no issue. Got the same deal on my pick up and tires rub sometimes. Think its cause tires are new and truck is a little heavier and lift is old as dirt.

Well I went with 31's. Phil(PJ5454303) is helping me tomorrow with shackles. Tires go on at 4 o'clock.

Well today we put the shackles on Mitch's blazer(88s10blazer) in about an hour, and then It came time to do my truck. Well 5 cuss and sweat filled hours later we got em on. Had to replace leaf spring bushings. Any ways didnt have time to help Mitch(88s10blazer) with is balljoints and jegs sent him the wrong wheel bearing. So He is pulling a almost all-nighter doing that, and tires and alignment are being done tomarrow.

eww, paint those shackles black please! but lol, couldn't get those old shackles off so you just broke em out. haha, redneck egineering at its best.

about the original comment on rubbing.
I have true 31x10.50 and i had only 2" of lift, they rubbed the upper fender and the frame rails. But then I added a another 2" of body lift, no rub on the fender even goin thru whops at 40 mph. still rubs on frame rail, but a small spacer or just new rims with a 4.5 backspacing would get rid of that...speaking that its a 4x4.
And I offroad the crap out of my truck, slamming up hills, over rocks, not logs yet, thru rivers, thru the dunes, in ruts i could stand in....so if you don't want any rub, In my opinion, and your gonna offroad seriously, u need 4 to 5 inches of lift, and new rims with a smaller backspacing so ur tires stick out, or spacers. Hope this helps.

and definently get 31s, so worth it. May I recommend Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 ...sweet tires, buddy has them on his jeep, and they just tear up the dirt and the road, haha. Gonna get them after my duratracs are gone.
