2000 GMC Jimmy Lighting Question
I just picked up a 2000 GMC Jimmy a few days ago, and at night i really notice that all of the lights flicker, while idling with the door ajar.....or setting at a light or stop sign.
second question: when you start it and the headlight switch is off, you should only get the running lights, BUT should all of the lights be on (Taillights,Tag light as well) when you dont have the headlight switch on..........(My 1998 Astro AWD only has the head lights on once started and headlight switch off)
Third: its cold blooded, once started you have to let it warm up. other wise it will spit and has no power. ten minutes later runs fine. think its in the cold start. any ideas.
Thanks for your time.

Could the relay be bad? i notice when i switch the dome light override on and off (till i get the head lights off) that the head lights go out.does one know where the relay is also........or is the head light switch bad.
Also when i get the head lights out it doesnt blink as bad (dome light and dash lights).
also is there a volt reg under the dash? and is it possible it may have gone bad?
Thanks Mike

The voltage regulator is part of the alternator. The alternator output is controlled by the PCM through a PWM (pulse width modulated) signal. If this signal is not proper, the voltage will fluctuate much more than intended.
A while ago someone posted how to rewire the alternator to get rid of the PCM control and just connect it back to battery reference voltage which should provide a more stable system voltage.
