Default 2003 Blazer Intermittent Wiper Issue

Hello! My son’s Blazer will not work in intermittent wiper mode: it stays on like it’s set to Low wiper speed. No other issues with the wipers. I was told that it can be either the pulse board or the motor. How can I be certain which part I will need to buy/replace? It’s a difference of $25 or $82 for the parts 😬. Thanks for any help!!

Amy, please read my recent post in the 2nd Gen section , not it this Lighting -electrical section. My 2003 Blazer 2 door had many strange problems such as : wipers staying on when I cut them off, no low speed or delay, and other erratic behavior. Finally when they started staying on or locking up when on 'High' setting and in the far left position of the windshield, I decided to do something about this. I looked at the price of the PCB / wiper control module verses the price of a new wiper motor with card included as standard. I decided to see if the wiper Control module would fix the problem. After all the motor was working, the control function was not. The card was about $18. xx and the shipping was about 9.00. with a small tax. .I was able to remove the old control card and replace it with the new card, and new cover plate. It even included 3 new T20 Torx screws. You will need the T20 socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet or a palm ratchet or a T-bar in 1/4". Plus some sealing grease.

Another possible solution is included in my write up. Swartlkk says you can just remove the pulse card and re-solder the 'cold solder' joints on the original card. I could not see any cold aka bad solder joints, So a new PCB card aka Pulse card aka wiper control module was my logical choice. I chose the PCB card by Cardone and was glad I did. Please see my recent post in the 2nd Gen 1995-2005 section and it has prices and a link to the re-solder method------that I don't recommend. BTW I tried to post a photo of the actual PCB card and it didn't come through. You can go to Rock Auto parts/ look at the right of this screen and you will see 'all the parts your car will ever need' ad listed. then go to Chevy/blazer/ wiper / and you will see several motors and several PCB cards. They even show pictures in the catalog. Don't be tempted to chose on price. Look for the red heart for the Rock Auto customer favorite. Or chose a Goldie Locks --not too cheap and not too expensive --- it's just right!
