99 Chevy Blazer has no power at all
Today I was driving my 99 chevy blazer, it died and has none of the electronics work. Well im an idiot because after taking my subs out, I left the power wire connected and I think it shorted the vehicle out. I heard a pop and the the blazer died.
What I want to know is if the blazer has a main fuse, or if its a fuable link i have to replace. Thanks in advance! |
First question is did you have those wires running to a fuse that was already in the truck or did you install an independent dedicated fuse for them? There is a 175 amp mega fuse under the battery tray. If you have a test light connect it to battery ground then touch the B+ post at the under bus box. If it lights, then the mega fuse is fine.

it had a dedicated breaker for it. I will definitely try with the test light. I'll be back on tomorrow to let you know!

I went to the same post and the negative battery terminal and the test light did not turn on.

Just to make sure a simple mistake wasn't made before going further:
-Did you check the light across the battery terminals to make sure you had good contact before moving to thw UBEC post? -Did you scratch at the UBEC post pretty good with the test light to make sure you had got thru any corrosion? Try the same at the terminal end of the B+ cable at the UBEC below the bolt you were touching. If still no light you'll want to remove the battery tray to check the mega fuse itself. Use jumper cables to connect your battery (which is now out of the truck) to the battery cables. Be conscious that the jumper cables do not touch the ECM. I would also disconnect or even remove the power cable for the subs in case it has melted somewhere and is creating a short. |
Okay I'm going to take a look at the fuse here in a few. I appreciate the help!
I did remove the sub wire right after it happened, I don't want that happening again lol |
