Alternator Problems

I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer. Yesterday, my car died while driving down the street. Once I got it to the side of the street, no dash lights would turn on. I had had some battery problems about a month ago, so we decided to change the battery. That seemed to solve the problem and I was able to drive my car to school and work today. I just went out to leave work and my car won't start. The lights and radio comes on, and I'm able to crank the car but it won't turn over. Is that a bad alternator?

Have the truck jump started. Check the voltage at the alternator output stud, it should read 14 v +-. If not, it's bad. Or remove the alternator and take it to the parts store to be tested.

Thanks! We jumped it and it started up. I took it in to read the alternator, and it's just fine. Now we're stumped.

Look for loose, dirty corroded terminals.
