Battery cable removal question

While talking to the mgr. at the local AutoZone about some of my problems (looks like I need a new MAF Sensor) I was telling him about how I used to have to un-hook the cable from the batter because I could not remove the ignition key (got that fix). I told him I removed the positive cable and he said I should not have done that because I might have screwed a lot of things up, and I should the system re-set.

Anybody know what he is talking about, and did I really mess anything up?

The battery was removed for an over night period.

Many thanks in advance.

Disconnecting the battery, whether it be the negative cable (which is the safest) or positive, will reset the system. If only done for a short period of time until repairs could be made, I doubt you did any real damage to your truck.
