Blazer wont start by key

Ok here is my story i recently bought a 1998 blazer 4x4 LT from my uncle in which i worked on for him and replaced rear axle bearings, brakes, shocks, starter, alternator. when driving one day the trans started to gush fluid out of the opening where the bell housing and the engine meet so proceeded to remove the transfer case the transmission and figure this was the input shaft seal the blew out so we (my cousin and i ) replaced this seal and did a visual of the torque converter and flywheel then put everything back together took it for a test drive and it started leaking again called a transmission guy up told him the story he said pull it out bring it to me and ill fix the problem turns out there's 2 big orings that go around the planetary gear assembly he replaces them and few gaskets and waaalaaa fixed the trans issue.

Now while driving one day no issues i stop to pick something to drink fill up gas get back into the truck and it wont start and what i meen by this is when i turn the key into the spring tension position to fire it up i get a relay clicking sound from under the dash and it wont crank or fire up i figured hmm maybe somethings the matter with

a. ignition switch
b. neutral safety switch
c. starter relay

I replaced all 3 of these items and still im having the same trouble with this truck so last resort was maybe there is something wrong with the ENGINE wiring harness i replaced this with a new one ( biggest pain in the ass to replace) when removing the old engine wiring harness i noticed there are two sets of small electrical eyelits that bolt to the top backsides of the cyclinder heads were broke off figure boom i found my problem wellll new harness i bolted the new eyelits up got everything together and boom the same problem still truck wont start.

I have had enough of this truck and im fixing to trash it out in the woods for the time being i have a push button wired to the starter to fire it but the key has to be in the on position for it to fire up i have talked to gm/chevy and few other local shops and few have mentioned could be bad grounds or anti-theft problem i have check all the main engine grounds there in great shape tight no corrosion in tact can somebody please please give me some insight if they have ever ran into this type of an issue and if so how to fix it ..

thanks

If you have anti theft then you have a coded key is it possible the key has lost it's coding?

jrizzo1987 02-06-2012 07:31 PM

when i turn the key on the security like comes on but then after few seconds it turns off then when i try to turn key into spring position the security light stays off it doesn't look like there's any chip or code for the key hmmm. heres picture of what my key looks like http://i10.ebayimg.com/01/i/001/2e/b9/797c_35.JPG

I dunno if you can do this on a second gen but on my first gen the key won't go past power on so I ran a wire from my fuse box to the starter wire with a switch inline. Works like a charm

Bah...sorry didn't read all of it and I see you already did this.

jrizzo1987 02-06-2012 08:19 PM

I have been told the fusible link wire which runs from the battery to the starter could be bad so i will be testing this tm when i get up and have some light out then ill get back to you guys in meen time please leave you thoughts and info pleas and thank you .

But do you hear the starter relay click?
Check the crank fuse?

jrizzo1987 02-06-2012 08:52 PM

just tryed it i get a relay clicking sound under the dash as for the under the hood fuse block hard to tell until i have sec person to listen for it

jrizzo1987 02-06-2012 09:04 PM

ok so i popped the hood open and i reached out with 1 arm and put my finger on top the starter relay fuse and with my other arm i turned the key to the start position and i didnt hear a click nor did i feel a click vibration of the under the hood fuse panel starter relay i checked the crank fuse(10a) it was good i removed the the crank fuse and then turned the key to on position and pushed my push button and the truck started right up without the crank fuse in place .....

UPDATE: I HAVE TAKING A multimeter and put it to dc volts and i removed the crank sensor fuse (under the hood fuse panel) and i put the positive and negative prongs in place of the fuse and i proceeded to to the key to the start position and the meter said 16.5 to 18.2 v any help guys ?

I don't believe those keys are coded, so not that!

WTF!
A link
https://blazerforum.com/forum/lighti...-guides-67750/
To a link
https://blazerforum.com/forum/1st-ge...iagrams-30060/

Which says...

autozone.com - there is a link on the right side of the main page called vehicle repair guides - it is free to register and use. they have the diagrams and such in there for pdf veiw or download.
Except not really.. they used to have them for some cars but they went away.. probably because Alldata complained.

Oh.. wait.. if you want to pull the emissions application chip out of your ECM, there's instructions for that. That could be handy to someone

What AZ DOES have that is handy, at least for now.. is vacuum diagrams.

I suggest you do a google search for the diagrams you want, when you get the results page, if there's nothing promising, then switch to 'images' and see if something comes up there.

As I said I found this posted here on this site by bommertruck97, if he had registerered he could have looked up his vehicle, (As I did) and found all kinds of diagrams for his vehicle. I looked up his vehicle and there are 48 diagrams to choose from, not all are for his problem but would maybe help him diagnose his problem, sorry if it went to my vehicle I just wanted to get him started.
I did find my diagrams which were and are useful.
Google did nothing for me except to lead me to this site, either looking for diagrams or with images which go a gambit from car pics to porn.
This site(Blazerforum.com) has helped me greatly and I appreciate all who have helped.
