Default brake light trouble

I have a 1986 k5 that is a former army rig, it is a 6.2L diesel and i cant get my brake light to work. i have replaced the switch and still nothing. my turnsignals work as do my tail lights, i have no power going to the switch and can not find where the wires disappear to. please if anyone has a similar issue i could really use your advice.

thank madirish

Kyle! Where are you? He has an '85 I believe but not the M1006 code or something like that.

Try running your own 12v source to it and see if your brake lights work if that fixes your problem and If all your fuses are good just run a wire off one of the fuses

I was reading the chilton Manuel and it says something about the turn signal switch could cause this problem, sound like anything you guys have run in to?

Default Yep

Brake lights on my 96 Blazer did the same thing. Everything at the rear runs through the turn signal switch. If the fuses and bulbs are good, just suck it up and get a new switch. It's a pain to do and you'll get it fixed faster at a good shop.
