Default brake turns on fuel pump

My husband just replaced the transmission. Got everything back together went in to start car and pressed brake and car acted as if it were going to turn on without key in ignition. We know that a wire has gotten connected incorrectly but can't figure out the problem. Anyone have ideas what went wrong?

Can you provide a bit more details. Make, model, year, door count, 4x4 or 2x4. Thanks

i do these transmissions all the time. there really is no way to reconnect a plug into the wrong place, they make them all different shapes to prevent people from doing so. theres always a chance of some wires getting smashed together or something like that

so you hit the brake and the lights light up on the dash or the starter cranks?

How do you know that the fuel pump turns on when you press the brake pedal? Is this with key on or key off?

Have you ever had a leaking windshield or chronically wet carpet?
