Default Cruise Control Issues

I have a 98, 4dr, 2wd, LS. My cruise control stops working at random. While driving on the interstate on a flat stretch with normal conditions (dry, music cranked, flat, straight, windows down) my cruise control will stop working. Even if I flip the switch back to "off" then to "on" and try to set it, nothing happens. After a while, I try it again, and it works. This started a couple months ago, and previously I could drive this same trip (I make the same trip every week, 2 hours long) and have no problem. Nothing has changed; I do the same thing every time I make the trip. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

It could be the multifunction switch which controls your cruise, blinkers, high beams, wipers etc. although all of the other electrical problems may not be broken (yet) it can happen slowly over time. The part itself is around 120$ so it's difficult to know for sure without being a wiring expert. I replaced it last night in my car to fix my high beams which were stuck in the high beam position even when flicked. There was nothing else affected by my slowly dying multifunction switch but I took the risk and it was worth it.

I may have solved the problem, I had a stuck caliper on the rear passenger side. it just got a lot worse in the past week (so I finally noticed it). I fixed that this weekend, we'll see how that goes.
