electrical fustercluck

So last night driving to my friend's house a fuse popped and my headlights and dash went dim, all my gauges stopped working and the *beeeeeeep* when the key is off and the lights are on would not go away unless I killed the light.. drove the last 1/2 mile to his house and changed the fuse out, all was good. When I left later that night to go back home it happened again.. I had another spare fuse and it lasted the rest of the trip back. I haven't tested whether or not high beam/low beam is an issue yet.. but I had the highs on for the trip there and lows after the second fuse popped. Has anyone had this issue before or do they have any ideas what might be causing this? Any info is welcomed and appreciated, thank you.

Which fuse blew? Diagnosis starts with information! :icon_wink:

did you use the same size fuse for that circuit ?

Sorry.. the gauges fuse blew and yes I used the same 20A fuse. when I went out earlier it blew and my headlights were off.. drove to walmart because i was already going there and bought 20A and 30A fuses. I put a 30A fuse in for now just until I can find and fix the problem.. no issues with the gauges or lights yet. my radio fuse also blew earlier.. I changed it with a fresh 20A fuse and it seems alright

Putting in a fuse 10A higher in rating can be a dangerous temporary fix. 30A through a circuit meant for a max of 20A can result in melted insulation and possibly in a fire.

Yea I know but I had to do something so I could get back to campus tonight lol. Once I find my DVOM I'm gonna do a current check to see what's actually running through it.. I seem to have misplaced it between last week and now.
