Fixing wonky fuel gauge by rerunning 4 pin plug

I'm convinced my 4 pin connector has ground issues and maybe a broken ground wire. I want to rerun the purple signal wire and Grey 5v to the vcm and run the 2 grounds to the Battery negative in the efforts to fix the issue. Anyone have any insight ?

I see that you have two threads on this issue. Are you trying to replace the fuel gauge or repair the wiring from the sending unit? There are two grounds on that fuel pump connector. One is the pump motor ground and it just needs a clean solid contact to the frame, no wire back to the battery. Are there fuel pump problems? The other ground wire is for the sending unit and it is a lo reference wire back to the ECM which is a clean low noise sensor ground. If you suspect wiring problems then you can check the resistance between connectors. Running a separate ground wire to the battery may cause new problems.
