gauges not working

I have a 1989 blazer with electric gauges. The fuel, temp and oil gauges are no longer lighting up when the car is turned on. I checked the fuses and they are all good. The speed gauge and turn signals are still lighting up however. what did you think?

The cluster needs to be repaired most of our blazers have the same problem

I sent mine out and got it repaired and its good like new
the mileage stays the same since they send back the same cluster

I used this guy hes very good and fast
Chevrolet Blazer S10 GMC Jimmy Cluster Repair Service - eBay (item 330556241954 end time Oct-18-11 13:31:46 PDT)
also hes the cheapest i found

there is also a trading service where you buy a cluster for 125 bucks and then send yours back they refund you 100 bucks but the mileage wouldn't match your truck

xgiovannix12 Oct 8, 2011 08:04 PM

the links above show how much it costs and if you dont know how to do it dont bother 1 mistake can cause more damage to the trucks system

HI gio :)

rosie the main cause of the failure is a bad capacitor on the small power supply board. it goes out and the whole thing goes crazy. I found somewhere if u can solder good, you can replace that capacitor for like 2 bucks from radio shack and it may work. Il try to find the link for it.

edit :

I cant find the how to on it. Here is a link to what u can buy to fix it,and the how to.

See the big round capacitor on the left on the tan board? the smaller one under it drys up and goes bad,and causes the issues. I dont remember what type it is. If you are up to the task u can take your cluster apart and take it with you to radio shack etc and find the right one. or buy this
