Glass Hatch Release Exterior Switch Won’t work
Hello-2004 ZR 2. The key fob and dash switch will release the back glass but not the exterior switch on the tailgate. The switch tests fine and there is 12v at the switch itself. Checked related fuses and relay in the engine fuse box. Replaced relay (black plastic box with 2 connections) located in the tailgate. Wiring disappearing into black flexible tubing at base of tailgate checked fine. What am I missing???? Seeing there is 12v at the switch, the problem is once the switch is depressed, the voltage heads back into the vehicle to go through an array of “safety protocols” before returning to the glass allowing it to open I.e. vehicle in park, unlocked, etc. However, I have only found one such relay in the engine compartment remotely related to the hatch (unless it is labeled weird) and it tests fine. This is driving me nuts. I have researched it greatly with no luck.

97: Blazer 4dr .
I've got a tailgate problem, too. Whenever the ignition is on, or on accessory...there is a buzzing from the tailgate. Sometimes, I can make it stop by pushing the dash release button. The glass hatch releases with the tailgate button, and the interior button ok.
I also can't get my key in the tailgate button.
I'm not sure where to start. The noise is a rapid clicking/buzzing...as if the solenoid were being being turned on/off rapidly.

I'm an idiot. The Mrs just had to start using the Blazer because she ran her Subaru into a pole and had problems with the unfamiliar controls...and had left the rear washer switch on. I'm really glad I didn't dig any further before finding that. It was stupid for me to NOT think, simply...what could be energized at the tailgate when the ignition is turned to on or accessory.
Duh...sorry to have wasted anyone's time.
Everything works fine, except I can't get the key into the release button. I can live with that.
