h4 headlight upgrade
1 Attachment(s)
I'm sure quite a few people have done this upgrade, I got it all, the housing (bulbs that came with the housing, 55/65, bulb brand is autopal like the housings, googled and could not find anything on them)
so it brings me to a question. I have adjusted the headlights, they are extremely bright. passenger side headlight is perfect. driver side is odd, and has an odd shadow through it, no matter how I adjust it, the shadow is there. Do you think it could be, because of these cheap bulbs, that is the only reason why I would think there would be the difference between drivers and pass side. here is a photo I did notice that the drivers side adjustment screw is not working properly (need to get a new one tomorrow) so its not allowing me to tilt the headlight up, so its pointing down a bit, do you think that could be the cause of that weird shadow? Its a lot more noticeable in person than on camera so i circled it. |
I never had these issues... Mine needed to be adjusted when I upgraded also.
|
I am guessing its just cause its pointing down more than, will get a new adjustment screw and report back.

it could b the lense cone that the bulb sits behind. it could b bent down a lil gettin in the path of the light. i had a problem like that when i did this converstion.

http://i.ebayimg.com/t/82-93-CHEVY-S...d)!B!~~_12.JPG *edit* Well I figured out the problem, when I was putting in the new adjuster screw on the problem side, I pulled the bulb out and realized I got a defective bulb. There must be an air leak in the bulb because there is this milky/silver looking stuff inside of the actual bulb. Googled it, and that is what I am finding that the bulb has a small air leak. Oh well, gives me a reason to upgrade to a better brand bulb |
rite on, yes it does. may i recommend silverstars.....
|
I was going to go with either silverstars or Philips XP's. Going to go with the Philips XP. Reading more reviews for them being better.
|
I picked up the philips x-treme vision (+100) for the g/f's blazer, but haven't installed them yet ;(
|
Well the new headlight adjustment screw helped a bit, but there is still the shadow casted from the faulty bulb. Going to be ordering the new bulbs hopefully tomorrow.
I still cant get over the difference between sealed beams and h4's with the HD harness. Its night and day, I have noticed that they light up the road better than HID's. I am very happy I did this. |
If you still have the problems after switching bulbs, you might have a small defect in the housing design. I never had problems with my auto-pal housings like yours, but I also bought a pair of the clear ones and they had issues with a shadow right in the middle of the beam. So that may be an issue.
