so I went to check the voltage on that yellow wire and I had no voltage.... any where. apparently i had accidentally turned the dome light on when i pulled the dash board cover off. after giving the battery a full charge i once again installed the new switch and much to my surprise the headlights are now working. for now. i still dont trust them but i am happy at this juncture that system is working. thanks for your time george. i am keeping a close eye on that truck because of all the phantom issues it seems to have.
