Help! Grounding Brake wire.

I was trying to ground the brake wire on my power acoustik ptid 8970NRB so I could watch movies on my breaks at work, but when i connected the brake wire to the wire i used for the ground and turned the key forward, my deck didnt turn on. I then disconnected the ground from the brake wire, turned the key again and still nothing. I checked in my manual and it said to check fuses and connections, and if that didnt work then hit the reset button on the front of the deck. I did all those things and it still doesnt work! Is my deck fried?! Or what should I do? I bought the deck last December from amazon. Would they even replace the deck? The deck doesnt smell fried.

Sounds like you're not getting power. Were you jostling the unit around? Any possibility that you knocked a wire loose? Check the power and ground wires. Try sanding the contacts to be sure of a good connection.

Edit: Are you sure that wire is supposed to be grounded and not powered? I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do but when the unit does nothing at all (no power-on signs) it tells me there's a bad connection somewhere. If it was doing funny stuff, it would be a different story.
