HIDs are complicated
I just bought my Jimmy a couple weeks ago. It has what I think are HIDs in the low beams. While looking around I noticed they are connected to a little box that is about the size of a hard drive one on each side. is this configuration what is causing my high beam indicator to stay on even though I'm just using the lows?
The little boxes are the ballasts used for igniting the HID bulbs.
The ballasts, if wired correctly should not cause the high beam indicator to be on. Most of the time, ballasts are powered off of the stock low beam wiring or through an add-on relay that gives the ballasts power directly from the battery when the relay is triggered via the stock low beam wiring.

it's the high beam indicator, it's on any time the head lights are on(auto or by the switch but not DRL). I didn't even know the DRL had an indicator,
Just a note everything works as it should. Just not the indicator.

I have two theories, it might be because someone did the quad mod, where the lows stay on when you turn on the highs, or because my poor Jimmy was molested by an inexperienced wannabe car stereo installer before I bought her. Either way it is just one more thing on my to do list, not even the most important.
ah okay. I only mentioned it because the 94 Sonoma I'm driving right now has a DRL indicator... which only doesn't come on anymore because I disable the DRL... stupid thing to have if you ask me but whatever lol
If they did the quad beam mod with two relay harnesses and a diode between them, I can guarantee its because of the quad mod. I've had the quad mod on my truck for about 3 years, and recently had the front end apart and re-did the relay harnesses I originally made, and since, mine has had the same issue you're having.
I say its the quad beam, because when I pull the diode, everything works as should, aside from not having any headlights on because I have bi-xenon projectors. So I must have the diode to have high beams, otherwise, the shield just drops and the low beams cut out. With the diode in, every thing works fine, aside from the high beam light on.
If the didn't put a diode in with the relays, then never mind :P
