Default The Man with Two Brains

So... Kinda like the movie "The Man with Two Brains", I want to take an ECU out of a truck and keep it alive in my bedroom. I'm curious what I would need to do to it to make it atleast partially function.

The goal of my phsychotic avenues is to create an OBDII simulator if you will, for testing some new scantool software. I may be way off here but I'm thinking I should be able to wire up the positive and the "run" feeds and then it should be willing to talk some OBD with my PC.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a cool project. The first thing you'll need to do is get it to power up. You could modify a molex plug for a pc power supply to give the ECM 12 volts. If you're not sure how to do it search the internet for people running car audio amps on power supplies and you'll see how people do it.

this. I had a old dell power supply powering a pioneer headunit and 4 speakers. Was a pretty fun little project. Basically you cut out all the old PC harnesses and only use 2 or 3 wires from the power supply.

ROFL!!!

But seriously, I'd like to get some techie responses on what wires would need wired to power and ground. I will probably use a homebrew psu solution for power.

but again...

ROFL!!!
