No start. Electric gurus enter please.
So I've been having an intermittent no start issue. I changed the ignition switch and it didn't change. I turn the key and the only thing in the dash that turns on is the ses light and the volts gauge. I can hear the pump prime. I turn the key and I hear some relay click in the pass. kick panel. And nothing. Everything works as far as lights horn radio door locks. If I press the trip odometer button all my gauges and lights in the dash work. Still no start. It was like this for a week and then it worked fine for a week and now its back at it again. No starter click nothing.

Check the connections at the starter solenoid, It could be that your starter is going bad. When it does it, try tapping on the starter with a hammer while someone turns the key.

Yea sounds like a starter solenoid problem

I had someone tap the starter with a piece of wood while I tried to crank and nothing. If it were the starter solenoid why don't the dash lights illuminate only when it doesn't start? I'm thinking it may possibly be bcm related.

The problem is intermittent and seems to only happen in the morning and not the afternoon. Any idears guys?

Another thing to check is the battery terminal wires. I had a similar problem a few years ago and it turned out to be the connection to the battery. It made enough connection that everything would turn on, but as soon as I tried to crank the truck over I got nothing.

My only thing is why would only the volts gauge work and nothing else until I press and hold the trip odometer then it all comes to life but still won't start?

I know on my 1992 s10 blazer only the solenoid went out made my dash lights go out and wouldn't start

I'm pretty sure its a wiring issue now. I put a jumper lead from the pos of the battery to the solenoid and it started with the key on. But I got a few weird ses codes. P0740 P0785 P1860. And I still have no dash lights. And I'm getting zero power to the clstr fuse with the key on. No power in or out.
